Do you want to feel better about yourself, gain control of your health, lose weight, sleep better, or move easier? Or just wish you could walk life in more balance, but feel confused about what next to try?
It’s normal to feel overwhelmed about where to start – and so having a coach or mentor to navigate the way through your journey is the key to making it easy.
Your wellness is defined by you as the client. Together we work to understand behaviours and adjuncts that enable you to change and grow where necessary.
We will focus on the environments in which you spend time and energy and ensure it is a positive and nourishing experience. During the sessions, I play the role of being the encourager, challenger, and coach all in one.
The approach I take is client-centred, meaning as the advisor, I will ask questions encouraging you to find the answer within. Other times you’ll have specific questions or need prompting and I’ll be forthcoming with advice that comes from the current evidence-based research, drawn from both clinical and life experience.
The process of discovering this together is exciting, and I am always blown away by what a client can discover about themselves, given the space and the right tools. It’s empowering for both of us.
It’s a natural progression to link in with other health professionals such as nutrition or psychotherapy should you wish to focus in on a particular area of your health. I work closely with these professionals and working collaboratively fast tracks results.
Specific areas where I can mentor you:
Breathwork
Breathwork is an active exercise that involves breathing in a systematic way to intentionally change your breathing pattern. Breathwork is safe and gentle. It encourages you to experience and release your emotions. Breathwork requires a longer expiration phase, nasal breathing and use of the diaphragm and other respiration muscles.
Breathing sessions are designed to help reset the central nervous system and move you out of “fight or flight” mode. Breathing better will improve mental, physical and spiritual well-being.
Breathwork has been proven to treat mild anxiety, PTSD, insomnia, respiratory and digestive issues. It will not only leave you feeling calm and centred, but it will further connect you to yourself and your intuition, giving a greater sense of peace or groundedness, clarity and confidence.
Sleep support
Sleep hygiene is often used to describe someone’s sleep habits but involves both behaviours and environment. We can take for granted that someone can get a full night’s sleep with very little work. However, there are habits you can put in place to ensure a deeper, more restorative sleep. Sleep is the keystone to your health. If it’s missing, then all other aspects or goals will be affected. Ask me if this is something you’d like to focus on and we can set up a plan to help you get quality rest.
Grounding
Grounding is a practice that helps reconnect you with the present and bring you out of the fight and flight response that can be triggered by a number of things. It helps you separate yourself from the distress of your emotional state or situation. Grounding requires you to be present and use your senses, including listening, taste, smell feeling and sight. It is often practised in nature where subtle, relaxing sounds can be noted and your hands or bare feet can be exposed to the textures of the ground or wooden park bench.
Grounding can take anywhere from 3-10 minutes and is best accompanied with breathwork. Grounding can be practised during a busy workday or as a larger session with a prolonged activity such as gardening or art work.
Journalling
A simple activity that reaps great rewards when practiced regularly. It’s been shown to have significant effects of physical and mental health, can cultivate memory and improve mood.
